The Review of Economic Studies: Insights is an open-access, general-interest economics journal publishing short papers through a fast review process with up-or-out decisions. The Journal publishes papers of the same quality as those published in The Review of Economic Studies where a significant analysis or key finding is best developed in a short-paper format. REStud: Insights welcomes significant advances relevant to intellectual and contemporary questions across all areas of economics and economic policy.
Please read these instructions carefully and follow them closely to ensure that the review and publication of your paper is as efficient and quick as possible. The Editors reserve the right to return manuscripts that are not in accordance with these instructions.
All new submissions to The Review of Economic Studies: Insights are subject to a submission fee of USD 250. This fee is separate from the open access charge payable upon acceptance.
Payment of the submission fee does not guarantee that a manuscript will be sent for external peer review. Editors may decide, following an initial assessment, that a manuscript is not suitable for further consideration. The submission fee applies regardless of whether the manuscript undergoes external peer review
There is a reduced submission fee of USD 150 if each and every author meets at least one of the following conditions: (i) is a current student, (ii) is within six years of completing their PhD, or (iii) resides in a low- or middle-income economy (according to the World Bank classification). Supporting evidence with links to authors’ websites or CVs is required at the time of submission.
REStud: Insights is a fully open-access journal, and publication is subject to open access charges administered by Oxford University Press (OUP). For information about publication charges, licensing, institutional agreements and waivers, please refer to the OUP Author Guidelines.

REStud: Insights does not consider author-suggested reviewers.
The Journal operates single-anonymized peer review: the identities of authors are known to editors and reviewers, while reviewers’ identities are not disclosed to authors.
For full details about the peer review process, see Fair editing and peer review.
REStud: Insights requires authors of accepted papers to submit all code and data necessary to reproduce their work and to permit readers of the Journal to use those materials.
By submitting an article to the Journal, authors indicate that they accept the Data and Code Availability Policy (DCAP). Authors are strongly advised to consult the DCAP before first submission.
Requests for exemptions to the DCAP should be clearly stated in the dedicated text box on the submission site when the article is first submitted. Such requests will be considered at the discretion of the Managing Editors and the Data Editor. Exceptions will not be considered later in the review or publication process.
The Journal uses Zenodo, a research data repository maintained by CERN, to store and share replication materials. This page explains how to upload and submit your replication package to Zenodo. For what the package and README must contain, please see the guidance page.
The Review of Economic Studies endorses DCAS, the Data and Code Availability Standard [v1.0], and its data and code availability policy is compatible with DCAS.
All accepted papers must comply with the Review of Economic Studies Data and Code Availability Policy before publication.
